The Jamarcks kitchen remodel consisted of a tear out of the old cabinetry, appliances, sink, and light fixtures. Before, it was a dark, narrow galley kitchen that afforded only room for two. The new design entailed removing the upper bank of cabinets facing the living room and pushing out the lower cabinetry about a foot. The resulting design opened up lines of sight to the living room and allowed for more natural light in the space. Additionally, the design also added 18 inches of new counter space. Moreover, in the new kitchen, the dark cabinetry was removed and then replaced by crisp, white custom cabinetry, Corian countertops, stainless steel appliances, and pendant lighting. Some of the Jamarcks favorite things include their new spice drawer, bread drawer, more cupboard space, the built-in trivet, and the functional new roll-outs.
“We love it,” says Mary Kay. “We’re still getting used to how open it feels and the lighting is great.”
“What’s great about Kitchen Mart is that if there was a problem, they would take care of it,” Don adds. “A lot of other contractors argue with you or make a change order because it wasn’t part of the original design. But with Kitchen Mart, they would just take care of it. There wouldn’t be a change order. They would say, ‘not a problem,’ and fix it.”
