Kitchen Mart REFACE and CUSTOM CABINETRY MAINTENANCE
Kitchen Mart cabinets are constructed from natural wood materials. Variation in the natural wood color, tone, and grain are inherent and unique characteristics to be expected with this product. This does not affect the product performance in any manner. Make sure to keep the cabinets as dry as possible as this will ensure the longevity of the product. Even on the deco-form cabinets, long-term water and moisture can damage the finish.
REGULAR CLEANING & POLISHING
Maintaining wood cabinetry is easy.
After the cabinets have been installed, they should be kept dry and sealed with a good quality wax such as Howard’s Beeswax, Cabinet Magic, Guardsman, or Pledge household cleaner. The cabinets will be sealed when Kitchen Mart installs them, but they should be resealed four times a year after that.
Once a year, the cabinetry should be cleaned thoroughly with either Murphy’s Oil Soap or a 50/50 solution of ammonia and water, and then resealed shortly thereafter.
For touch-ups, you can use furniture touch-up pens, such as those manufactured by Guardsman, available at most hardware stores, or any oil-based stain.
CHEMICALS TO AVOID
Kitchen Mart does not recommend the use of stains used by Kitchen Mart for touch-ups on already installed cabinets. These stains will melt the finish on the cabinetry, and will result in damage to the cabinets. Instead, Kitchen Mart recommends the materials listed above. Similarly, water left on the cabinets can cause discoloration or possible warpage, so it is very important to make sure the cabinets are kept dry.
DECO-FORM (RTF or Rigid Thermo-Foil) CABINET MAINTENANCE
Maintaining the deco-form cabinetry just as easy as the wood. After the cabinets have been installed, they can be cleaned with simple household cleaners, such as Windex, or with warm soapy water, if they are dried off immediately. Remember, water is the number one cause of cabinet delamination, so keeping your cabinetry dry is key to ensuring a lasting product.
